*Week 4-Final Week* Lesson Reflection How did we make it to the final week this fast?! I cannot believe I only have a couple days left with my students. It has been SUCH a joy to see them each day and to grow as an educator through my experiences with them. Lesson Topic : Reading Taught: How to find the main idea of a reading passage. What went well: I know that our students have grown to enjoy collaborative work, so there were a couple different events within the lesson that allowed them to really work with their peers. For one activity the students got with a partner/small group and told each other all about their evenings yesterday from the time they left Summer Learning Place to the time they went to bed. Then, their partner would decide what the main idea of their story/recap of their night was. I liked that this helped their understanding with main idea and also was a way for them to get to know each other more and to share per...

*Week 3* Lesson Reflection Lesson Topic: Writing Taught: How to write a strong and complete sentence. What went well: There were several things that went well! Since the students enjoyed the video from my first observed lesson, I decided to find another one that fit the objective for this lesson. It was interactive and imaginative and really outlined some key information that the students needed to assist them with their learning. No surprised here, the kids loved this video as well!! They were very focused in on this little piece of technology the entire time. Another thing that went well during this lesson was how smoothly the partner activity went. I learned from my last lesson that it would be better to preset the partners/groups and not just let them pick their own. This made the transitions quicker and also left little to no time for disruptions/off task behavior. Lastly, we worked very hard to reinfor...

*Week 2* Lesson Reflection Lesson Topic: Math Taught: How to correctly identify and name certain two-dimensional shapes (ie. squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles). What went well: There were lots of things that went well! I started the lesson with a fun video on shapes and the entire class was actively engaged during this time. It was a great way to get their attention and put them in a positive place for the lesson. This was the video :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uIjdI0qbi8 During the mini lesson the kids were very proactive and used their prior knowledge on drawing shapes to help them come up with characteristics specific to each one. They did some collaboration and seemed truly excited to discuss with their partners. I think having some previous exposure to this topic gave them more confidence as they worked. The students were assessed by becoming "detectives" and searching the room for items that were in the shape...

*Week 1* We survived the first day!!! It was such an incredible day. Time flew by, but I got to meet nine new wonderful and energetic kids. After spending the afternoon reflecting I have come up with the following goals for myself during this practicum journey: 1. Create meaningful, impacting, and positive relationships with each child. I want them to feel safe, happy, and proud of themselves. I want them to understand that respect is mutual. Lastly, I want them to know that at the end of the day I care about every single one of them. 2. Construct essential lessons and activities that encourage inquiry, question, and student choice. I want every child to feel as though they are an intricate part of the learning. For them to feel that their voice is heard in what they do. 3. Cater to all the student's needs: social, emotional, academic, and personal. I want each child to grow in every way possible and to feel good about ...
